GAA Gemological Appraisal for the Insurance Industry
Gemological Appraisers of America, knows the definition of a jewelry appraisal for insurance purposes... a written, detailed description of an item of jewelry adequately describing all characteristics, including weights, grades and measurements, usual to the item and its component parts, sufficient to determine the actual cash value (replacement cost less depreciation) at time of loss.
Our appraisals reflect realistic replacement opinion of value to help you set the proper premiums. State of the art digital imaging is incorporated with each appraised item. Images and descriptions can also be generated in word processing documents and email messages.

GAA’s Jewelry Appraisal will include:
- Describing all characteristics of the piece, including weights, grades, and measurements;
- Type and number of gemstones;
- Stating any treatments given the gem that are not part of the usual processing of this type of gemstone;
- Stating whether the gem is natural or synthetic;
- The manufacturer, metal and karatage of the mounting;
- The value of the jewelry;
- Digital photograph of the gem;
- Type, size, shape and luster of pearls;
- Manufacturers names, serial numbers and model numbers of watches;
- Style, length, weight and karat of gold chain
